Organized by Josef Gotzmann (MFPL, AT) of the Central BioOptics/Light Microscopy Facility, this Workshop will demonstrate new techniques for live imaging yielding outstanding axial resolution at very low energy exposition. Two companies will showcase their products.

Organized by Alex Dammermann (MFPL, AT) of the DK Chromosome Dynamics, this Workshop will provide a hands-on practice for novices and seasoned users alike. The list of instructors is truly impressive: Clare Waterman (NIH), Paul Maddox (IRIC), Iva Tolic-Norrelykke (MPI), Alexey Khodjakov (Wadsworth Center) and Peter Carlton (Kyoto University). Lectures are open to the public.

An absolute must for people in imaging. The topics include super resolution- and single-molecule imaging, probe development and use of novel microscopy techniques in biological studies. Dr. Kraemer will provide an introduction to the new MicroTime200 FLIM/FCS system being installed by the CSF at the MFPL main building.

From the information email: “This course will give an introduction to contemporary microscopy techniques. Lectures will cover microscopy-related principles of optics, principles of fluorescence, anatomy of the microscope, methods of optical sectioning, image acquisition methods, and the basics of data analysis. Hands-on sessions will introduce students to Widefield, TIRF, Confocal, Multiphoton and Spinning disc microscopy. Two hands-on sessions will be dedicated to image analysis methods.”
